Name:Professor Christine Ikpeme

Professor Christine Ikpeme is the Pioneer Head of Department. She obtained her B.Sc. (Hon) in Food Science and Brewing in 1988 from former Nnamdi Azikiwe University, formerly Anambra State University of Technology.

Later she earned a Masters and Doctorate degree in Food Technology from the University of Ibadan in 1990 and 1997 respectively, and she was contest ITTA, Ibadan research scholar. Professor Ikpeme’s research focus is on Food Safety. She is a certified third party Food Safety Auditor, HACCP Lead Instructor and a certified Haccp food safety auditor.

Professor Ikpeme has several published works in various International Journals of repute. She has attended and presented research papers at Leading International Conference in Food Science and Technology in various countries including USA, New Zealand, Ghana, Morroco, India, Thaizania, Dubai. Professor Ikpeme is leading expert on Food Safety and Consults for United Nations Agencies. She is a visiting Professor to Cape Penisula University of Technology, Cape Town South Africa.

Professor Ikpeme’s passion is to ensure the development of Food Safety structures in Nigeria, as a tool for providing safe foods to millions of Nigerians. She is a member of several learned societies including NISFT, IFT, IAFP Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World.
